Love, Burns - Pavement Drawings cd
Regular price $10.00
Phil Sutton has long been a fixture on the indiepop scene, first in London (as one of the original members of Comet Gain, Velocette & Kicker) and then in New York City (with Soft City, Cinema Red And Blue, and most recently, Pale Lights), but you could say that his current project - Love, Burns - is what he's been working up to over these past decades. Although a self-proclaimed "solo project", Phil is helped out by a number of friends & ex-bandmates - including Kyle Forester (Pale Lights, Crystal Stilts, etc), Hannes Mueller (the BV's), Jo Roman (Lightheaded), Alicia from the Jeanines and more - creating a beautiful album full of gentle & jangly guitars (both electric and acoustic) that bring to mind the Go-Betweens, jaunty organs that rival anything Felt have done, and of course Phil's dulcet tenor, which is augmented on most songs by Jo's backing harmonies and occasional duets. Hopefully this will be the album that gets Phil recognized as a top-quality songwriter on par with Pete Astor, Robert Forster & Martin Phillipps!
