hailing from Bordeaux, Watoo Watoo have long been one of my favorite French pop bands with a half-dozen releases on various labels, including Blackbean, Radio Khartoum and Dufflecoat, among others. Over the last 15 or so years, the duo of Pascale & Michaël have evolved from a simple indiepop band to something more encompassing of their myriad influences, with nods to Stereolab, Young Marble Giants and Astrud Gilberto surfacing on their fourth full-length album. Gentle and textured, this might just be my favorite release of theirs yet!
