I've been a fan of this Brazilian fellow's work ever since I got his EP on Wee Pop! Records back in 2010 - warm and fuzzy indie rock in the vein of Guided By Voices and Smudge, fitting as many short and catchy songs as he could on a 3" cd. Fast forward two years later, and our good friends at Lost Sound Tapes release his North American debut, "Pré Ambulatório", and then another couple years, and here we are with his fourth(-ish) album and his Jigsaw debut (with the cassette once again handled by LST). This time around, though, he opens things up - WIDE open - to include a couple lengthy pieces on top of his usual fare of hit and run tunes. Though my general opinion of songs exceeding 5 minutes is not very high, I like the ones presented here in the same way that I like, say, the Wedding Present's "Take Me"; they have enough parts to them to keep things interesting, and it's easy to get lost in the musical maze that Lê leads us through. Perfect for fans of the US 90s indie rock sound, this album holds many treasures and is well worth exploring!
