Boyracer - Seaside Riot cd
(Jigsaw Records, PZL207)
Regular price $10.00
Boyracer have been one of my very favorite bands for over 30 years now - I remember becoming quickly obsessed with them after playing the hell out of that first Slumberland 7" in my dorm room in early '94 and subsequently spent years tracking down every last release of theirs. They were also the very first band I asked to put out a 7" on my new label in summer '95 (which came out the following year as PZL003), so we're obviously beyond thrilled to get to work with them once again (in collaboration with Emotional Response, who's doing the vinyl, of course) on their fantastic 15th lp! Like their previous two albums, this one sees Stew & Riley (of Artsick) sharing the songwriting/vocal duties and perfectly balancing each other in the process. And rounding out the lineup this time around are three other returning faces: Mario (Kids On A Crime Spree), Chuk (Bright Lights) and Simon, their original guitarist from the early '90s (which might explain why they decided to cover their own "Cog", from their second Sarah 7"). With 15 catchy noisepop classics in just over 45 minutes, it's great to see that even after roughly 33 years, these indie stalwarts are still as consistently brilliant as ever!
